A possible work around is to use augeas. Still need to run a command on each
host but that is easier than editing a file manually. YMMV. I use it a lot in
kickstart scripts.
yum install augeas
augtool set /files/etc/yum/yum-cron.conf/email/email_from root@something

Thanks for the mention of augeas. Very handy tool. Added a few lines in
a puppet manifest and everything is good now.
