1. Buffy has already HAD a movie. The series was based on the original 1992 movie with Luke Perry. This project can SO happen without Joss it's not even funny.

2. The show continued in comic book form, so it's not like this story dies never to be heard from again. The smart thing to do would be to keep the book going until they can get the show back on TV. If they can bring back Family Guy and Futurama, they can bring back Buffy.

Its been about 5 seconds since Buffy ended its last season (ok like 6 years). Though that is a long time in the information age, I just dont see this taking off without the blessing of the Buffy god. Ill be waiting for DVD to see how bad this will be.....

Joss Whedon Said No To Buffy Movie

By Graeme McMillan, 7:00 AM on Sat Jun 13 2009, 3,870 views

Fans may want the head of the executives who announced a Buffy The Vampire Slayer movie without the involvement of Joss Whedon, but it turns out that Whedon was asked to be involved after all... and said no.

In an offhand comment at the end of a conversation with Entertainment Weekly about the future of Dollhouse, Whedon admitted

I believe [the producers of the proposed movie] did ultimately reach out to my agent after the news broke... I think that's something better left untouched by me. So, I wish them luck.

They'll need that luck, if fan outrage about the movie is anything to judge by. But will the news that Whedon wasn't actually snubbed change the hatred that fans have for the idea?
