I've been reading the Dr. Voodoo comics, which are good. In case you don't
know, Dr. Strange used "dark" magic to help the New Avengers escape a trap by
Norman Osborne. (Osborne is the new top cop in America, replacing Tony Stark,
and runs HAMMER--which replaced SHIELD--as well as a new team of crooked
Avengers). The use of the dark magic caused Strange to lose the mantle of
Sorcerer Supreme. The Eye of Agamotto then chose Jacob Drum--Brother Voodoo--as
the new Sorcerer Supreme. It's been an cool book. I especially like how they
use Drum's powers as a hougan to surprise those who were used to Strange's
particular power set. They're also revealing an interesting history of the loas
that help Drum, and there instrumental roles in keeping Earth safe from all
manner of magical threats. cool stuff. Drum has been chosen by the Eye to fight
a specific threat, and no one yet knows what it is.

Possibilities include classics such as Ant-Man, the alter-ego of mad
scientist Dr. Henry Pym, and Dr. Strange, the mystical go-to guy whenever
there's an extradimensional threat. Both are connected to The Avengers line
of characters that Marvel had started developing for the big screen long
before Disney made the deal; Iron Man and the Hulk are among the Avengers
that Marvel already has tapped.

There are about 5,000 more characters, including obscure ones such as
martial arts master Iron Fist from the 1970s and up-and-coming ones such as
the Runaways, a street-savvy pack of teenagers that have become a recent
Marvel comic-book hit.
