Harper's a talented actor. I agree: the M.E. position on most of these shows is a (pun intended) dead end. Kandi Alexander left her version of CSI for the same reason: not enough to do. Tamala Jones--she of the loud voice and innumerable black comedies--plays an M.E. on "Castle", and I lament at how little she's on screen. Waste of talent.
Still, I guess she and Harper and others in such roles like to count on the steady work and paychecks that allow them to pursue indie films, take times to travel, interview people, and write books (as Harper's done), and maybe do some behind the scenes work to help other blacks get projects launched. In that way, good move. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kelwyn" <ravena...@yahoo.com> To: scifinoir2@yahoogroups.com Sent: Thursday, March 18, 2010 10:49:02 AM GMT -05:00 US/Canada Eastern Subject: [scifinoir2] This is not a Test I caught "This is not a Test" starring Hill Harper and Robinne Lee on the Movie Channel last night. It is a tight, taut little psychological thriller about 9/11 conspiracy theorists that gives new meaning to the old adage that even paranoiacs have enemies. Hill Harper, who is given absolutely NOTHING to do on CSI:NY gives a riveting performance as a good man brought low by his rapid descent into apparent dementia. ~rave!
