That's easy enough to believe. Most of our news programs are made by corporations. In "That hideoous strength" a SF book by C. S. Lewis, he said that paradoxically, it will be the most media-savvy people who will be prone to deception.
Sometimes when I hear these long discussions about stuff -- unimportant but all-American-stuff-- on TV while news about atrocities in our (and other) countries I say, "so true!"
