Hello everyone. This week I'm looking at Red Sage Publishing and have some contest information, so let's get started. The Spotlight on Red Sage Publishing was presented by Executive Editor Judith Pich. Diana Peterfreund, a new editor with Red Sage was also introduced. A panel of authors also talked about their experiences writing for Red Sage. Publisher Alexandria Kendall began the line in 1995 to publish anthologies of very sexy stories that were also romances. That first year Red Sage produced one volume. This year Red Sage produced four volumes, they plan to do six volumes next year. They are looking for erotic stories that are romances. They must be "exceptionally well-written," with "not just sexuality but sensuality." The stories should be 25,000 to 35,000 words. Any type of story is welcome historical in any time period, contemporary, paranormal, futuristic, suspense/mystery wherever the writer can take the story. Each anthology has some type of historical, two contemporary stories one with a suspense element, and a fourth story which may be anything paranormal, science fiction, futuristic, whatever. These volumes have national distribution with Ingram's. They're carried at Waldens, Borders, Books a Million, Barnes and Noble, and at bookstores throughout the nation. They're interested in seeing anthology stories with the theme of "Torn Between Two Lovers" where the woman has to choose between two men, maybe one who is a `safe' choice and one who offers more adventure. Over the course of the story it eventually becomes clear that one will be her choice. The woman may have a relationship with both men, but it becomes clear that her romantic relationship is with the hero. They pay $1000 advance for each anthology story, plus royalties. Ms. Pich wants to see a synopsis and the first ten pages. Send to Red Sage Publishing, P.O. Box 4844, Seminole, FL 33775. Turnaround time varies, but can be as long as six to eight months. Red Sage is also expanding into single title novels this year. These should be complex, 55,000 to 75,000 words. They are being very selective here, but will consider submissions. ************************************************** Harlequin has entered into an agreement with NASCAR to publish a series of romances with plots that center around NASCAR.
