It's funny, but 9/11 did zip to affect my stories. Maybe it'll affect other folks' stories though.
What DID affect my stories was the population ethnic shift in my country. I had -- in my silly blindsided way-- created a world where blacks and whites were in a kind of race war in the US. I then realized that I really had to make room for the Hispanics and the East Indians who are becoming a large part of the ethnic mix. Somehow the ethnic war seemed a bit old-fashioned, and I realized It would look really hokey -- not to mention unreal-- twenty years from now. Especially since blacks are no longer the largest US ethnic group.
