One of my co-workers wondered if I recognized this one, but though it sounds faintly familiar I can't actually place it. Anybody else recognize it from this limited description: "The story is about a woman with magical powers who met up with an adventurer that she could not "magic". The story explained her frustration with the situation. The customer explained that he remembered this story being in a Galaxy or ...IF or similar type magazine during the 1970's.
