A strong ability to learn. Indeed, we are more and more closing in on state of the art. Thus we cannot expect student to know beforehand the algorithms that they are going to code. We need them to be able to read the paper and understand it to code the algorithm. We do understand that in some cases it might take a while. The mentor is there to assist, but only to assist, as all our mentors have their own day works.
