I also agree with Gael points: genericity / alternative
implementations are only interesting if they can be demonstrated as
being non-dominated by the others on at least one non-toy example (in
a Pareto multi objective setting with axis such as: raw execution
speed, numerical stability, convergence robustness, memory usage,
online-style scalability or parallel style scalability).
