We do have a "what's new" section. For this release, we also tried to have a 'highlights' part of the "what's new" section. It wasn't as shining with nice images because we rushed it a bit, as we were quite busy bug squashing before the release. Also, it isn't as synthetic, as it covers only one release, whereas my blog post covered a few. I guess that what you are saying is that we need a better "what's new". We'll try to keep it in mind for next time.
