Hi All,
I thought folks on this list would be interested in checking out the new
python package I just released -- AstroML: Machine Learning for
Astrophysics [1]. It draws heavily from scikit-learn (you'll recognize
the webpage template!), and also adds implementations of data mining and
machine learning tools which have been commonly used in astronomical
research. A lot of work went into the examples: we have over 200
example plots, many of which process and visualize real astronomical
data, loaded and cached by routines in the `astroML.datasets` submodule.
A big part of my vision for this project is to help encourage
reproducible research and good coding practices among astronomers, as
well as providing an efficient data exploration and analysis platform
for researchers and students alike. Though it's aimed primarily at
astronomers, I think scientists from other fields will find the code and
examples useful as well.
I'd appreciate any feedback you might have - thanks!
Jake
