This discussion has stalled. I don't mind at all. However, I just wanted to stress that I am neither for or against the idea. I don't have a strong opinion. The 'api' module raises a few problems, namely that we have think about what's the best way to document.
I seems that the current consensus is to wait and see. I am fine with that. I people feel the same, let's rediscuss this in a little while after we see how it goes for other packages.
