Do the symlink and the docs live in the same directory on the remote
server? i.e. stable -> my_014_docs, and not something like stable ->
../../weird_dir/my_014_docs?
If they are in the same directory I think copying the folder and symlink
would be fine. It would be trickier to copy though doable if they are in
different directories, as you would need to either a) specify a full path
(which would be very tough unless you know server layout) or b) make sure
that the relative path is the same on your side and the remote.
I normally just use tarballs and untar on the remote cause of this kind of
stuff... hopefully someone who knows the web server can help.
