I think announcing some of the main planned sprints on the mailing list and twitter would be helpful. Last sprint (in London) contributors were interested in knowing how they could follow when next sprints would happen, and we didn't have a clear answer then (short of following all discussions on the mailing list).

+1 also to link on wiki to scikit-learn sprints organized by other organizations.
