What the reversion does is say that if we don't understand anything about the format, assume it is a URI. Not something that I feel real comfortable, perhaps you can print out the type in deatomized form.
I don't really know how to argue this one - it feels like a Twilight Zone episode... :)
Put simply, the code in question always worked just fine - and then it was modified to satisfy a special-interest group (the Nautilus users), seriously breaking the existing behavior... and now it sounds like the working version of the code will not be restored - even though it would be "in parallel" with the offending code. Sigh.
So that means that now the broken SCN_URIDROPPED needs to be reported as a bug? If so, I can do that - but a) this would then miss this release cycle, and b) all I would propose to "fix" this is to put the working code back anyway... hmmm - I see that John *might* go along with this "fix". ;)
Anyway, thanks for looking at this, Neil and John - let me know if I can do anything to help. A suggestion - put back the old code for now as I propose, and then I could help with (or write?) a more correct version along the lines of the DROPFILES_DND type that John mentions for the next release cycle.
