no, not yet
the original reason for it was to allow "colored background" markers, you

the technic that I use allows dynamic allocation (0 to 4 bytes of styling, 0
is untested though)
there is one problem though: most styling API need to accept "long" (so as
to have at least 32 bits) and in the styling buffer somewhere scintilla uses
an array of such 'long', particularly during line layout, it may take much
memory (4 times as before for this buffer)
so the first question is this acceptable for the main stream distrib?
