Dan Petitt:

Is it true that you cannot drag text to the window extents and it
auto-scrolls?

  Yes.

If not, can this be added, all editors big or small allow this capability
and without it does limit the usability of Scintilla in a big way.

It is likely it can be added by someone sufficiently interested.

The behaviour should be that if you drag some text to the last line in the
document, then the window should start scrolling slowly, the closer you get
to the scrollbar or edge of the window (if no scrollbar is present) the
faster the scrolling. Once the mouse is on the scrollbar or off the edge of
the window then scrolling stops.

Its more complex than that due to dragging out of and into windows
with minimum movement so there is often a delay involved. IIRC there
was a section on this in "Inside OLE".

If it cannot be added, could you point me to the right places in Scintilla
code that I may look at to add this functionality, and would you be
interested in receiving details of any changes?

This has to tie into each platforms drag and drop system so will
probably be largely platform-dependent. Have a look at the callers of
Editor::SetDragPosition. I'll accept code that implements this well.

  Neil
