OK. I think, though, it would be slightly more elegant to supportinstead the 
values not defined (or empty), '0', and any other string(with the latter 
constituting success of the test). That way one couldwrite (in the environment)
scite.font.size=12
and in the properties file
if scite.font.size    font.monospace=font:Courier New,size:$(scite.font.size)   
 font. .....    =  ... $(scite.font.size),
etc., and make one variable do where otherwise two might be necessary(one for 
the test and one for the size). However, this is admittedly areally small 
point, and not going to affect the usability of theeditor.
In another matter, does anybody know how to *reply* on this list usingGmail's 
web interface? It seems that my posts so far have gone ontothe top level of the 
threading. (I think I can't do 'reply' withinGmail, because I only receive the 
list digest, not the specific postto which I'd like to reply). The list 
instructions don't seem to say,and googling turns up a few things none of which 
are to the point.
