It's possible, but it must be a two combination key. Ie: Ctrl-F12. It's
because the holding of Ctrl button while tapping Tab/F12 has different
use than just doing Ctrl-F12. (Try Alt-Tab on windows while holding Alt).

For a long time I used Editplus and that works in this way and I think
that's very nice way.
