How do I use this script? I'm on WinXP Pro SP1 with MS Word installed
yet when I execute this script (via the command.name.17.* menu item)
it doesn't seem to do anything. I've tried with both text selected
and with no text selected.
Having a look on msdn:

it seems like the error is the WScript.StdIn.ReadAll since according
to the MSDN page ReadAll will return an error with StdIn when called
with WScript.
