You're right about the simple distribution of Ruby that included SciTE an extra 
shell but I updated Ruby and SciTE since then.

   There used to be a simple distribution of Ruby for Windows that
included SciTE set up with an extra shell window since SciTE is not
compatible with Ruby's normal reading of input.

   I can't recall all the issues as this is a tricky area but from my
email there was one like:

 command.go.*.rb=cmd /c ruby $(FileNameExt) < con: > con: 2>&1
