I am currently using a UK keyboard but have told Windows that it is a US keyboard so that I don't have to re-learn how to type. The problem that I have is that every once in a while the key handling in SciTE will revert from thinking it's a US keyboard to UK. This only happens in SciTE, that I can determine.
You probably have both the keyboard layouts in your Windows language set up and have the default key setting (Left Alt + Shift) to switch between layouts. Since SciTE uses more keyboard chords than some other applications it can be easy to trigger this. Easy solution is to either disable layout switching or set it to another key combination.
