I have, with initial help from Bruce Dodson, upgraded SciTE 1.72 to use Lua 5.1. It is available on my SciTE Tools page at

    http://caladbolg.net/scite.php#lua51

Both links to binaries and source code are available on the page as well as descriptions of the scite-tools project (hosted on googlecode). Note that the SciTE51 and SciTE51.exe binaries use Lua 5.1, not the standard SciTE and SciTE.exe executables.

So far I have noticed no problems with the plethora of scripts I have written and minimal to no changes (many compatibility flags have been turned on).

If this is tested by enough people and proves stable and quite usable, Neil has agreed to the possibility of committing it into SciTE itself.

Awesome, many thanks for the update, I will try to do some testing...
