When I compile with gcc 4.1.0 source files I can't see the error messages... It is written only if it compiles successfully or not --> return code 0 or return code 1...
I tried gcc 4.1.1 on Fedora Core 5, typed "gcc --version" into the output pane and it displayed version information. I don't know what's up with your system but a similar version of gcc worked for me.
