Neil,
I think it may make sense to make a 1.74 release and then look to changing the Lua implementation and extender interface soon after so that they get a reasonable amount of testing before release.
I've used these extensions since I put them in in SciTE 1.72 with no changes necessary. It's been incredibly stable.
