I'd actually prefer that brace highlighting only affect the colour but I lost this argument early in Scintilla's history. If someone wants to implement a mode that highlighting only affects colour or only affects foreground colour, along with a Scintilla API and SciTE property to control it then I'll include it. And documentation.
