I was just wondering, what the average time is for the inclusion of patches on Debian packages. Do all package maintainer include submitted patches within 2 or 3 days? I am sure Dave would be "happy" to be used as a mailbox and include patches as they arrive: it is much less time consuming. I remember submitting a patch on a debian package and warning the maintainer that my patch would only fix the issue partially. the patch was promptly included but the maintainer did not try to fix the other issues. I am sure Dave would have. > The model "release often, release early" works well because other > developers see the code evolving and improving. I think it works well if you have a "large" bandwidth of core developers able to read, understand and validate patches. I don't know how many of us know the pcscd source enough. > Yes I am patient. But Dave treats me as a simple user On what basis is that founded? Are you sure you are not reading a little bit into things? I just think that Dave wants to check the patches before he includes them. He just has a limited bandwidth to do that. > Dave has done a tremendous good job until now but I don't find his > project management is optimal in term of development resource usage. I think it is just a question of how much time he has available to do project management. IMHO his time was better spent on developing the card applet and middleware instead of including patches. I just think that people are often not very grateful and look at what just happened on the Fink project: http://www.geocrawler.com/lists/3/SourceForge/11114/125/7038861/ I hope we are going to push Dave to the same extremity... IMHO this thread has been more critical than really constructive. JLuc. *************************************************************** Unix Smart Card Developers - M.U.S.C.L.E.
