Subject: Re: [OCF] card structure

Hi,

Usually it is not a just on APDU which is sent to generate a key pair.
First a file for key pair storage have to be created. Only then the key
can be generated. Indeed a card will give you the public key in a
response, but you always can retrive it.
Which kind of card do you use? If Gemplus GPK8000, I can send you detailed
description.

Best regards,
Alexey Nesterenko

Hi,

If I send an APDU to a smart card to generate a new keypair, what
exactly happens on the card? How can I use the keypair afterwards? Will
the public key be returned to me as a response? Will the secret key be
saved on the card? Where? I would like to have more insight in how to
use PKI with smartcards, i.e. by means of a practical example.
Thanks,
