Hello all,

Recently I discussed with a guy that could not use his "Schlumberger
Reflex 72" reader under OpenBSD because the driver was not available in
source code. I checked and it was true. I was very surprised drivers
were distributed on the MUSCLE web site without the source code!

So I took a few hours to check _every_ driver available on
http://linuxnet.com/sourcedrivers.html. And here I give you my results.

I would like to see the driver page redesigned to clearly separate
"binary", "non free" and "free softwares". I think it is important for
someone looking at a smart card reader to know if his reader is
supported under Linux (or another Unix like OS) and what he is allowed
to do with the driver.

Thank you for your comments.

- I would like to see the drivers in the "non free software" section go
in the "free software" section ("free" as in "free speech" not "free
bear"). Many of them have _no licence_ or refer to an external
licence. It should be easy to correct this if the authors are still
"alive". A licence-less software is useless since you have no right
to use it and no right to modify and distribute it (for Linux
  distributions).

- Dave may have problems since some "non free" and "binary only" drivers
have not licence. Dave may not even have the right to distribute them
  thru linuxnet.com!

- Many drivers use code from David Corcoran under a GPL licence. The
problem is that Dave does not include the licence in each source file
but just reference a LICENCE file

- I don't know how to solve problems with external sites. What happens
if the pages are moved? removed?
I am not realy sure it is a problem.

- A code without licence is not free since the author does not grant you
any rights, even not the right to use the soft.
