Hi: This name thing is still driving me nuts. I know some of you are getting sick of hearing about it, but I keep thinking of more of them and I feel its important issue. We need a good name, domain, logo and URL to help promote the group and Linux. One of my goals is to raise the level of awareness of Linux throughout Siouxland, hopefully that coincides with what some of the other people want as well. It important to promote the group adequately to make sure we succeed, it will benefit everyone.
We should be looking at the Group Name, Domain Name and thinking logos at the same time. For those of you who don't know how to check for domain availability use the following URL: http://www.netsol.com/cgi-bin/whois/whois . I think my best idea is now: MoRE Linux User Group or simply More LUG. The domain morelug.org is still available. The name stands for Missouri River Enthusiast's Linux User Group. I'll try to work up a rough logo for this one. Another one which we came up with is SiR LUG - Siouxland Regional Linux User Group - domains sirlug.org and sirlinux.org are both still available. The little I in Sir is from either "Sioux" or whatever. Since we have quite a range of member ages Sr Linux doesn't work real well. Logo for this one could be the penguin Tux with some armor, helm and/or weapons from of dark ages. Anyone want to take a stab at a logo for this one? Any other thoughts on this? I'll try to get a listing of all the Name and URL suggested so far on the Logo page of the web site. In other business. I got a bunch of stickers, pins and coffee cups sporting the "Penguin Power" Linux Logos and Penguins. We maybe give away some coffee cups in he next meeting, a drawing or something. Also, if you did a presentation in February please send your notes to Ryan ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) or me and we will get them up on the web site. We need the examples, URLs, and any other helpful information which you presented. I will get the game stuff up as well ("kicks own butt"). Ryan said we will have a link with each meeting listing which contains these materials. Brion Hase ([EMAIL PROTECTED]).
