April Meeting Coming Up!!

The Sioux City Linux User Group meeting this month will be April 9th (this Saturday) at 2:00 PM at the Sergeant Bluff Community Center.  Internet access will be available.  For those who haven't been to the Community Center it is easy to find, check http://sclinux.org for a map. Once again for those of you who can, please go to the website, print some flyers and post them.

On to the good stuff!  Bill Stone will open the meeting. After spending a minute or two on business, Ryan Stille will lead off with the first presentation. Ryan will be talking about using the Linux shell and various command line programs. He was to give this presentation last month, but because of the snowstorm we held it over for everyone.  Ryan says that his presentation will be helpful to both new and experienced Linux users.

After Ryan's presentation we are going to talk about setting up DNS and get everyone who is interested setup with a Full Qualified Domain Name.  We'll also cover some DNS tricks that those of you with dialup or non-static IP addresses can use.

Following Ryan and the DNS tricks, I will try to go through the Linux News and Open Source Update.  The news and related discussions are meant to incite some open group discussions.  We are also going to make plans for the May meeting which sounds like it will be a Linux Install Fest.  We are going to give a Linux Mug to Ryan for presenting (assuming his presentation is mug worthy) and a second mug away as a door prize.   Bill Stone will close the meeting.

We will pick a place for beverages and food after the meeting for those so taken.

Anyone interested in giving a presentation or knows of someone who would, post your ideas or volunteer yourself or your buddy at [EMAIL PROTECTED]  We are interested in giving everyone a chance to do a presentation.   Topics are pretty open.  We would like to plan some meetings in advance for the next few months.
