Definitely possible because the Linux Kernel doesn't care that you have multiple video adapters and XFree86 V4+ can manage both monitors as a single or multiple displays. Basically as a single display you can have both monitors side-by-side and move a single window from left to right, leaving one monitor and appearing on the other. A multiple display configuration would simply let you dedicate a seperate DISPLAY to each monitor/video adapter.
Doing this requires knowledge of the /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file that hold the X Server configuration. I use Mandrake and I don't believe it's possible to use the GUI tool DrakeConf to configure the XDisplay in this manner. Have a look at this Google thread for a general idea on where to begin: http://groups.google.com/groups?q=multiple+video+adapters+linux+xfree&hl=en& selm=a1a752%24bln%2407%241%40news.t-online.com&rnum=2 Another dry but good source of X Server information is www.xfree86.org Jeff Jumpy Monkey Coffee Roasting Co. -----Original Message----- From: Brian Isebrand [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, April 25, 2002 2:21 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [sclug-general] dual video cards and monitors does any one know if redhat 7.2 /kde support dual videocards and monitors? i scavanged a friends computer and took out the cdrom and hard drive and slapped em in my box, those work just great, but i have NO idea how to goabout adding another videocard and monitor.
