Has anyone turned an OpenGL app into a screensaver in Linux by chance?
I know all you need to do is drop a fullscreen OpenGL app into the
screensaver framework for Linux.

I did find some framework for X11, but I am not sure this will work with
typical users screensaver managers... The reason is because the one I
found included its own server. Does each window manager use a different
screensaver specification? I have found some posts in message boards
hinting that KDE may have its own format? Is that true, or is there a
standard in Linux that will work with nearly all window managers?

I would be happy if it works with at least KDE and Gnome.. I guess I
could create one for each WM if i had to though..

Any thoughts are welcome!
