Hi all sclug'sters, This is just an update of the cluster thingy I'm doing.
Due to lack of adequate hard drive space for all the nodes I've decided to build the linux dristro from scratch instead of using RedHat. I estimate I can save at least 700=>800 MB/node. It's going to be a challenge but It will be fun! <The Tech.> System, among other things, will include ##The master node will have Xfree86 4.3 ##blackbox windows manager (very small foot print) ##ssh (for incoming people) ##NIS and OpenLDAP ##PVM and MPICH (lib's for parallel programming :)) ## Some opensource software that utilizes these lib's I will set up the master node to tunnel out Xwin => ssh :) </The Tech.> <The Grunt.> I also cant scrap the old towers. Once I cut it the metal would fall apart. So I got some bent aluminum bars and I'll construct the server frame by hand :( </The Grunt.> <The Plea.> I need cpu's and dimm ram real, real bad. Help! </The Plea.> Thats basically it as far as the cluster goes. Suggestions, comments? ===== Ted Katseres ::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::: C , C++, Java or Cobol :::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::: Linux doesn't care :::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::::: __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
