i think the primary problem is that people see wireless 802.x as mine, that is is part
of there network. But really it is part of a public network. there is no license
required by the FCC (good or bad) to use the space so i have just as much right to
that space as any one. to say that this is my network and you can't use it nulls the
public unregulated part.

McDonald's, Intel put WiFi access on the menu
http://www.commsdesign.com/story/OEG20030311S0030

in the above example Mc'd puts one of these into the morningside d's. for those of you
who have been there know that it is right behind it are residential housings.

now i live in the house right behind Mc's and i put up a wifi point that is frequency
hop etc. I am using this point to conect two computers. it meets all FCC regulations
but does not exceed them. this point also has no net.

when the Mc's people try to connectinging they are now at MY point with no net access.

Now this wouldn't make Mc's happy.
But i have just as much right to that space as they do, and i can within the FCC rules
"effectively" jam there signal.

now i don't think the FCC should regulate the 802.x but he currentily if you are an
enterprise IT, there needs to be somthing better.
