Andy,

Welcome to the group!! I expect between a couple dozen and several dozen people will
come to the Installfest, but you don't need to worry about feeding everyone. I will
bring $10 worth of soda (3 or 4 12 packs depending on the weekly specials at HyVee).

Brion.

Hey All,

I'm new to the group, I haven't been at any meetings, but I am planning to come to
the Installfest. I'll be taking along an old Compaq Proliant 1850R which I've been
trying to put Redhat 9 on for a while - it's been quite a humbling experience. I've
also been wanting to try out Suse Linux, but I haven't had much time to throw at it
yet, I'm hoping some one at the group will be able to give me a few pointers.

I can take along some food. I assume chips/cookies or something along that line would
suffice? Is there a rough estimate of how many people might be at the Installfest?

Andy

All,

I will bring 5 copies of Mandrake as well. Bill Koontz from WITCC reports that
Internet access will be available. WITCC will supply everything we need except for
your network cables. I will try to bring a few cables to connect PC's to the hub. If
you have some spare cables please bring them. I will also bring a wireless AP in case
we need to setup and configure any laptops.

If anyone has stuff they want to sell, bring it with you. Make sure you have an
asking price on it. You can lay it out somewhere.

Does anyone have any ideas on something we can use to showcase Linux with? A cool
app, game, or movie or film we could play on a Linux Box. Some of those console games
we have talked would be really cool. Please post your ideas on the list.

I will bring a few sodas for people to drink. If anyone wants to bring munchies
please advise.

Brion.

Hey guys our install fest is coming up soon. I hope many of you can be
there to help newbies setup Linux on their computers, or at least just hang
out with us if you can't help out.

I submitted our install fest to these calendars last week:

Siouxland.net/The Weekender
siouxlandevents.com
KTIV Calendar
Siouxland XL
KCSJ Calendar

Let's post our progress here so we don't duplicate our efforts. I hope to
put up some flyers next week and will post their locations here too.

I also want to let everyone know we will be giving away a copy of Quake III
Arena for Linux at the install fest! This was graciously donated by Reboot
The User (www.reboottheuser.com), a Linux friendly computer shop in
Omaha. I have updated the flyer to include this fact, I think Brion is
going to post the new flyer soon on the website.

Any other good ideas? Post them to the list!

-Ryan
