Needs to happen before 2.4 goes away, which is a long time. Would be nice if
it actually coincided with 2.5 being the target of the /usr/bin/python symlink.

You're probably better off targeting 2.6, since the plans are to bypass 2.5
as the "official" version, and go straight to 2.6.
The urgency is a bit higher than "before 2.4 goes away", though, since it'd
be good not to have to have 2.4 on the system once everything else has migrated
to 2.6. I expect the migration to be reasonably aggressive, but I don't
know the schedule myself.
