Apologies for the wide email blast... but I can only visit so many people face-to-face and wanted to make sure as many people heard it from me before any rumour mill got running.
Just wanted to let you know that I'm leaving Sun and accepting a new position at a startup. (No it isn't VMware). It's been a gut-wrenching decision for me (I've still got the Pepcid/Tums wrappers I've been going through all week while stressed out mulling it over). I've had a great job here, and I've loved everyone I've worked with .... but I got an opportunity that was just too intriguing and exciting to pass up. I'll be around in MPK until the end of September, but I'll be around in the OpenSolaris community still - and I'll be at the developer summit in October, so I hope to have a beer with folks then too. I can't say thank you enough to everyone who's made my job so enjoyable here... I'll miss you guys all very much. If you're ever up at the San Francisco Sun office and feel like grabbing lunch, let me know :) And I'll always be reachable at steve at grommit.com, and on IRC in #opensolaris as stevel. The quote above (from John Gay) is true, I'd like to keep in touch with everyone as much as possible. cheers, steve P.S. for what it's worth, the OGB just jumped to 2 non-Sun employees ;-) P.P.S. please feel free to pass the info on, I'm sure I missed peopleon my Bcc list. It's been hard to recount everyone to say g'bye to. -- stephen lau // stevel at sun.com | 650.786.0845 | http://whacked.net opensolaris // solaris kernel development
