Hi,
I spoke with Bonnie yesterday about developing some migration
documentation for Hg. She requested that I send my notes to this list
for feedback, so here goes:
Two separate pieces of work are underway, as follows:
1. Migration of source hierarchy from TeamWare to Mercurial
- ON followed by the other ~10 consolidations
2. Relocation of Mercurial hierarchy from SWAN to
hg.opensolaris.org/hg/project
- ONNV followed by other ~10 projects
Documentation priorities:
1. Migration information for gatekeepers of TeamWare hierarchies
currently inside SWAN.
-Description of the current migration tools available to gatekeepers
-List of gatekeeper tasks that are prerequisite to migration
-Procedures for migrating hierarchy from TeamWare to Hg
-Procedures for testing results
-Troubleshooting
2. Migration information for project leaders with child gates currently
inside SWAN.
-All of the docs in #1 above
-Procedure to re-parent the child gate
3. Relocation information for gatekeepers of Hg repositories currently
inside SWAN.
-List of gatekeeper tasks that are prerequisite to relocation
Note: most of this content already exists, I think
-Procedures for relocating hierarchy from SWAN to
hg.opensolaris.org/hg/project
-Procedures for testing results
-Troubleshooting
4. Training information for developers currently using TeamWare inside SWAN.
-Access rules/roles for projects using Hg
-Procedures for clone, pull, build
-Procedures for lint, test, test putback, RTI, etc. equivalents
I welcome any and all comments on the priority order, omissions and
oversights, or things you want documented as reply to this list.
