Building Python with SCons (SCons + Visual Studio, SCons + MinGW) is a good practical exercise for official docs. Long time ago it was a problem to build Python on Windows, because you need to buy Visual Studio. As far as I know there is no any tutorial how to port Visual Studio project to SCons. This is a good starting point if anybody wants to contribute some docs. -- anatoly t.
