Given the tide is in favour of having a CoC, and given current society I will (albeit grudgingly (*)) admit we should adopt one, then it might be wise to look around rather than just plump quickly for one. Context is important though: a CoC for a conference, a FOSS project, a collection of FOSS projects, etc. all might need to be subtly different because of the different context.
