I am not for having a special name for Python 3 and no change for
Python 2, this is a Big Indicator™ that Python 2 is normal and Python 3
is different, which is, obviously :-), the wrong way round.

I'd go with message and replace rather than make Python 3 a second
class citizen by file naming – albeit not true in reality, but the file
names are powerful indicators to the casual observer.
