I've been listening to the newest Dougie MacLean CD, Perthshire Amber and
have completely enjoyed it. I bought it about a month ago. I finally
decided to learn a couple of the tunes and have enjoyed them so much that
my family keeps moving me from room to room. I suppose I've enjoyed
playing them a little too much. The two tunes are Mr. & Mrs MacLean of
Snaigow and Rannoch. Rannoch is a very nice strathspey. Is anyone on
the list familiar with this tune or know why this tune was named Rannoch
or any history at all about the tune? I did find out that there is a
beautiful moor in west central Scotland named Rannoch but that's about
all I know about the name.

The other tune Mr. & Mrs. MacLean of Snaigow is another very nice tune
that has the feeling of a slow air. A very easy tune to learn by ear.

If you haven't heard either of these, you're missing a couple of very
nice tunes.

Later;
