I have found that I get a better signal to noise ratio if I boost the signal from the stereo by running it through a tape machine and turning up the output volume from the tape machine before the signal goes to the computer. But you have to find the correct volume, too much will distort. Cool Edit works great for recording and editing. I would only use the noise reduction capabilities if the original record is really bad. You can always hear some weird stuff with noise reduction. There's a shareware program called CDWAVE.EXE that will easily split your recording into different cuts. If it makes some incorrect choices you can easily change them with the mouse. Good luck. http://www.nashville.com/~dan.mozell Posted to Scots-L - The Traditional Scottish Music & Culture List - To subscribe/unsubscribe, point your browser to: http://www.tullochgorm.com/lists.html
