Spookily enough I was driving past Saughtonhall in the west of Edinburgh
(now demolished to make way way for the Scottish exhibition 1906?) a couple
of weeks ago playing Pete Clarks brilliant recording of Gow's music "Even
Now", and that was the tune that was playing !!. ALP's local history group
is doing research as we type, so I'll give you the story of Miss Baird as it
unfolds. She'll be some minor toff some fiddler was trying to impress, in
the hope of a few bob, nae doot. I'm not sure if its a Gow tune? Hiya to
all you folk out there in cyberland
