Oh my. When we lived south of Edinburgh, Roslin Castle was our local
ruined castle. A marvelous island in the middle of a valley. We'd haul
all our visitors out there. But spent may a happy hour by ourselves. As I
recall you didn't dare drive a car up to it over the land bridge but it was
no problem on the motorcycle. It was when we first learned from the
caretaker just what a nasty sort of feller Cromwell was in his taking of
the place. Another previously impregnable place he & gun powder were able
to pregnate. [-)].
Also, according to the lady, the first flush toilets in Scotland. Of
course the servants had to carry the water to the roof first thing each
morning. Still...
