I don't know if I've already recounted this:
Once, many years ago, I was downstairs at The Oak in Edinburgh. It was
packed (it's so small it doesn't take much for it to be packed), and there
was a session going on. I think Jim Sutherland was there, but I was
astounded by one fiddler, Davie Tulloch from Shetland, who was playing
manically with a grin on his face. He was drunk, but you wouldn't have
known from his playing. He started to fall over, which with the mass of
standing bodies took a long time, but he managed it, ending up on his
back. He never missed a note.
