This is an extraordinary assertion. I've personally unearthed several, one
of which I will shortly published in my forthcoming "Songs and Ballads of
East Kilbride, Volume IV: Fishing and the Sea" (�28.99 from Your Grannie
Publishing, details on request). I recorded Fran MacBattersby singing
"Bonny Caroline of the Whirlies Roondaboot" (a remarkable 53-verse version
strangely not listed in Child).
In addition, you're surely forgetting "Bonnie Susie Cleland" who was "tae
be burned until Glenrothes New Town". Pah!
