Subject: Box & Fiddle Magazine

Dear All,

Most of you know me either through Traditional Dance or Music, or else
your
e-mail address has been passed to me via someone else in that scene.
You
may be aware that I am now editing the Box & Fiddle magazine. This is
the
magazine of the National Association of Accordion and Fiddle Clubs
(www.naafc.fsnet.co.uk) and has been in existence for twenty-five years.
The format of the magazine has changed greatly in recent years, and we
are
actively trying to increase our circulation figures (currently 2,000).
We
would like to encourage readers from a younger age group, dancers and
traditional musicians, without losing our main core of subscribers -
attendees of the many Box & Fiddle Clubs throughout the country.

We are looking for articles (or suggestions for articles), CDs for
review,
press releases and advertisers. Our advertising rates are extremely
reasonable - ?120 for a full page, ?60 for ? page, ?30 for ? page and
?10
for a small boxed ad.

We would really appreciate your help in promoting this magazine. At
present
it can be purchased only by individual subscription or through accordion
and
fiddle clubs, but we're hoping to find other sales outlets (newsagents,
music shops, dance groups etc) so that it is more easily accessible.

For those of you unfamiliar with the magazine, this month's issue
includes
articles on Fergie MacDonald, Jimmy Shand, the Auchterarder Festival,
Blazin' in Beauly, Sabhal Mor Ostaig, Will Starr, Feis Alba, Judith
Linton,
the Ten-Key Diatonic Melodeon and much more.

Traditionally there have been seven issues of the Box & Fiddle each year
(with a break during the summer months when very few clubs meet). We
are
currently exploring the possibility of increasing that to twelve issues,
but
we have to be certain that there will be enough material to do so. We
also
need to ensure that our circulation doesn't drop significantly during
the
clubs' closed season.

Please remember us when issuing Press Releases or advertising, and
articles
and/or photographs will also be gratefully received.

The NAAFC has just appointed an archivist, Charlie Todd, who will be
cataloguing the information, photographs and artefacts accrued over the
last
twenty-five years. These archives will then be available for anyone
with an
interest in the Traditional Arts.

If you wish further information about the magazine or the archives,
please
contact me. If you would prefer that your name not be included in group
e-mails in future, please reply to this with a blank message.

Best wishes,

Karin Ingram
